| See the Corvette ZR1 General Motors has selected Star City Motor Madness as a target event to display the 2009 ZR1 Corvette Prototype. The ZR1 on display at Saturday's Motor Madness car show will be easy to spot in the Featured Brand area as it will sport a visible carbon-fiber roof and domed hood with a window to the supercharger as well as unique carbon fiber dual cove front fenders and front air splitter. Powered by the LS9 V8 with an Eaton TVS Supercharger and intercooler with an output of 638 horsepower and 604 ft lbs. of torque. (Which equates to 1.7 hp per cubic inch.) The LS9 is governor limited, but still pushed the ZR1 around the Test Track at 208. The ZR1 is packaged with several heavy-duty race track bred features that include a dual-clutch, hardened gears, and reinforced axle components. Stopping power is provided by Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brakes, surrounded by 19-inch front/20-inch rear, 20-spoke wheels on Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 skins. "One of the most amazing things about the Corvette ZR1 is the level of refinement that our designers and engineers have attained. Even with all that power, this car has road manners that will allow our customers to enjoy it on the streets as a daily driver, and on the track," said Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper. Fuel consumption testing has not been completed, but GM engineers are confident that it will be the most fuel efficient 600-plus horsepower car on the market. Production on the ZR1 is slated to begin during the late summer of 2009. |
